Writing unit 8: AN OPINION ESSAY

THE FOOD INDUSTRY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO MAKE FOOD MORE ADDICTIVE INTENTIONALLY. DO YOU AGREE? WHY OR WHY NOT?

The food industry makes it possible to create addictive food. This food is more frequent now. I think that this fact is negative for people. 

Firts of all, I disagree with addictive food production because it is harmful for our health. Anything that is addictive is not good because it creates a dependence. 

Secondly, I think that addictive food consumption is not good because we abuse eating and spend a lot of money too. 

As I see it, we should buy less addictive food and buy healthier food and we would save money, we would improve our health and owr consumption.

Hi Júlia,

How are you? I'm sending this email to inform you that on thursday I went to Barcelona. I would have that you could come.

First of all, can you come with me? I'm planing to go to see the Sagrada Familia in the morning and then go to have lunch to a restaurant that you know.

I would also like you to come in the afternoon with me. I thought we could go to visit the zoo. They say it is fantastic and there are diferent activities to do there. I love animals!

Finally, we can go to walk along the promenade in the evening and go to eat something. 

One the other hand, I will understand If you can't come. But I would love to see you!

WRITING IN PAIRS

Hi Magui

How are things? We are writing because we'd like to invited you to spend a two-week holiday in our region, Banyoles.

We decided ask you, because we miss you and we believe that we should spend time together.

In our village there are a lot of things. For example, there is a lake where people swim and practise a lot of sports, such as kayak, rowing, canoeing. 

The other reason that you must come here is the weather. Seldom the weather isn't good and, so the temperatures are high (24ºC). 

The restaurants in here, are very good and the food too. Usually the people go to the restaurants with your family.

The typical food is pasta and meat. For example If the children go to restaurant, they will choose pasta.

ESTHER GUERRERO SIGNS FOR NEW BALANCE TEAM

Last month, October 2015, a female middle-distance runner signed for New Balance team. She is Esther Guerrero Puigdevall. Esther was born in Banyoles on 7 February 1990. She started competitions in Juvenil category 12 years ago and now she is a very good runner.

Last summer, she competed in the Women's 800 meters event in the World Championships (in Athletics) in Beijing, China. It was difficult for her to be accepted in this competition, but finally she was accepted thanks to her effort. After that, Esther won Club Natació Banyoles award for the "best sport woman 2014", where she is an athletics coach.

Last week, Esther Guerrero signed for New Balance team and she left FC Barcelona, her club since 2008. She signed that because this club offered her new projects, news aims and because she wanted to achieve new goals. 

Her goals in this new team are qualitying for the European championships and take part in the Olympic Games, next summer in Brazil 2016.

Esther Guerrero remarks "the new team has a motivating and innovating project which meets my goals".
